Barcelona and the conference venue

The city

Capital of the autonomous region of Catalonia and a major port, Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city, a bustling, modern metropolis of over 4,000,000 inhabitants. Its Roman and medieval remains, the iconic works of Gaudi, its attractive seafront, beaches, shopping and dining opportunities also make it a favourite tourist destination.
